-
Sterling silver earrings, oxidised black, with an organically shaped section removed from each edge. On the opposite side of each oval the edge is stitched in an irregular border of pale green silk thread. The gently convex design includes a sparse, asymmetrical pattern of raised dots. The earrings hang from handmade sterling silver hooks.
This light green coloured silk thread combines so nicely with the blackened silver. The coloured thread used in these earrings refers to the leaves of the Leopardwood tree – called ngarrkaray in Ngiyampaa language, and Flindersia maculosa in Latin. Interestingly, the leaf of this tree is dark green on the upper side, and a pale green underneath.
