Sterling silver, blue silk thread. A small amount of glue has been used to seal off one end of the silk thread.

Sterling silver earrings, oxidised, with an organically shaped section removed from each edge. On the opposite side of each oval the edge is stitched in an irregular border of dark blue silk thread. The gently convex design includes a sparse, asymmetrical pattern of raised dots. The earrings hang from handmade sterling silver hooks.

Even on a grey old rainy day, you can at least imagine the sky is bright blue while you’re wearing these earrings! Rangelands are defined by low rainfall, in comparison to other land types such as rainforests, and so each day the skies are typically free of clouds and deep blue just like the colour of this silk thread.
